Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a serious issue that disproportionately affects marginalized groups, including the LBTQ-GNC community. Despite its prevalence, IPV in these communities often goes unreported due to stigma, discrimination, and a lack of inclusive support services.
Understanding IPV in the LBTQ-GNC Community
IPV includes physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological abuse between partners. In the LBTQ-GNC community, individuals face unique challenges, including homophobia, transphobia, and fear of being outed, which can prevent victims from seeking help. These factors make it crucial to have services tailored to the specific needs of LBTQ-GNC individuals.
What We’re Doing to Combat IPV
At She-Huru Initiative, we provide support services, including counseling, legal aid, and safe spaces for those affected by IPV. Our advocacy campaigns raise awareness about IPV, encouraging more people to speak out and seek help.
How You Can Help
Join us in raising awareness about IPV in the LBTQ-GNC community by supporting our advocacy campaigns or volunteering with She-Huru Initiative. Together, we can create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone’s rights are respected.
